The high-quality recycling of mineral waste and its reuse as secondary raw materials (recycled construction materials) makes a significant contribution to resource conservation by saving primary resources and thus also to climate protection. Quality-assured recycled building materials are generally produced by mechanical processing such as crushing, screening, sorting and classifying mineral waste. Subsequent installation takes place in technical structures for earthworks, road and path construction.
In particular, the regulations for soil and groundwater protection must be observed. Adverse changes in groundwater quality and the occurrence of harmful soil changes must be permanently prevented. To date, there is no uniform nationwide regulation for assessing the harmlessness of recycled building materials and the use of such materials. Most of the federal states have issued their own regulations based on a technical set of rules issued by the Federal/State Working Group on Waste (LAGA M20).
The introduction of the new Substitute Building Materials Ordinance (ErsatzbaustoffV), as part of the Mantelverordnung, on 01.08.2023 promises a solution here.
The Mantelverordnung (MantelV) adopted in June 2021 also includes the introduction of the ErsatzbaustoffV. Thus, for the first time, all requirements for the production and installation of mineral substitute building materials will be regulated in a legally binding and uniform manner by means of a quality monitoring system. Depending on the pollutant content, the materials are classified in material classes with specific installation requirements.
We have the competence to perform all elution tests required by the Substitute Building Materials Ordinance. Our laboratories have sufficient capacity for the detailed column test and column short test (DIN 19528) as well as shaking test (DIN 19529).
SGS is your partner for analytics within the scope of quality control. This concerns both the verification of suitability (EgN), as well as the factory production control (WPK) and the external inspection (FÜ).
Our laboratories are accredited according to DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025:2018 for sampling and analytics.
